Dersin Amacı |
The objective of the Migration Governance course is to provide a critical perspectiveon the problems brought up by migration, which is a global phenomenon. This courseaims to question how migration is governed or not governed at the global and regional level by discussing national and international political issues related to migration. At the end of this course, the student will have a conceptual and theoretical backgroundon migration governance, will be able to deal migration at local, regional, and global levels, and will be able to analyze migration governance implementations comparatively.

The Migration Governance course seeks answers to the questions of why migrationoccurs and how it is governed, based on the basic concepts and theories in migrationstudies. Throughout the course, global, regional, and local implementations of migration governance are examined through case studies. Thus, the roles playedbystate and non-state actors in migration governance are discussed. Consideringtheinterdisciplinary nature of migration studies, the approach of different disciplines tomigration phenomenon and migration governance is highlighted through the course.

The Migration Governance course is divided into 4 parts: historical and theoretical context, levels of migration governance, neoliberal globalization, and case studies. Part 1 of the course will be elaborated by the lecturer in order to consolidate thehistorical, conceptual, and theoretical infrastructure of the course. Starting from the Part 2, the general framework of the course will be drawn by the instructor in the first half of each session, and in the second half, student presentations will be progressed and discussions will be carried out throughout the class.
