Objective Students (1) to have knowledge about the legislation in the EU and Turkey on social rights and social inclusion, which are attributed an important function in the integration of Europe with its member and candidate members, (2) to notice the level of implementation of the knowledge learned about the legislation in practice through field trips to be made within the scope of the course, (3) To ensure that they have the know-how they need to express the ideas they have developed based on the information they have learned and the observations they have made through video essay creation, (4) To equip them with the necessary skills to develop scientific or social projects for the research or solution of the deficiencies they have observed in the field of social rights.
Content This European studies course, developed as part of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module project, is based on the 20 principles of the European Piilar of Social Rights adopted by the European Commission to make labor markets and social security practices fair and inclusive. In this course, the historical, social and legislative development of social rights in Europe will be analyzed from the perspective of European enlargement, with a special focus on Turkey as a party to the European Charter of Social Rights. Students taking this course, designed from a multidisciplinary perspective, will be able to follow the course content developed by lecturers from the disciplines of sociology, law, political science, labor economics and communication. As part of the course, which is based on a creative teaching method, excursions will be organized to observe the social rights situation in Istanbul, and students will receive the technical knowledge, equipment and support needed to prepare a short video essay on one of the social rights principles of their choice. In the second semester of this course, the principles of Part II of the European Social Rights Framework, which deals with fair working conditions, and Part III, which includes principles supporting social security and social inclusion, will be explored.
Course Learning Outcomes On completion of this course, students will
(1) Be familiar with social rights and social inclusion practices in the EU and Turkey,
(2) Understand the importance of social rights and social inclusion provisions in EU integration and Turkey's internal integration, and develop proposals to overcome shortcomings in these areas,
(3) They can effectively express their ideas on any subject, drawing on their knowledge and observations, through essays prepared in video form,
(4) They can transform the ideas they have developed on the basis of their knowledge and observations on any subject into a research or social project.
Teaching and Learning Methods During the class,

(4) A combination of creative learning methods will be used.
