Objective This course aims at preparing students for the next semesters’ courses, including Turkey's International Politics and Foreign Policy, and enabling them to understand, analyze and discuss current international politics. , the world we live in) through regional studies.
Content This course, an elaborate version of the course IR 111 International Policy News I, is devoted to the study of international political news through a regional study. As a result, it focuses on the major geopolitical regions of the world and thus commits itself to providing "the keys to a reading of a complex world". Unlike the first semester, the price of RI 112 will focus mainly on a geopolitical reading of the world.
Course Learning Outcomes At the end of this course, students:
- Acquire a cartographic knowledge of the world;
- Design "an atlas of world events";
- Acquire the skill of understanding and giving meaning to the world with all its dynamics;
- Have an analytical and conceptual basis for upcoming semester courses, as well as regional studies.
Teaching and Learning Methods The main method consists of analyzing and discussing the actuality of the international politics by means of a rich audio-visual material. Following the teacher's account of concepts and history, news will be discussed using documents, documentaries, videos, etc. From the fifth week (March 11, 2019) students will prepare for a study on relations between Turkey and the regions concerned. Each student will do research on the literature of these relationships, choose an article or book and prepare a reading sheet on the article or book that she / he has chosen
