Objective The objective of the course is to give students a good understanding of the basic elements of “finance”, which is one of the most important aspects of business management.
Content Week 1 : Introduction to the concept of “finance”
Week 2 : Basic financial statements (balance sheet, income statement…)
Week 3 : Ratio analysis
Week 4 : Break-even analysis
Week 5 : Financial planning
Week 6 : Management of current assets
Week 7 : Problem session & preparation for partial exam
Week 8 : Partial exam
Week 9 : Time value of money
Week 10 : Capital budgeting
Week 11 : Bond valuation & stock valuation
Week 12 : Financial leverage and capital structure policy
Week 13 : Cost of capital
Week 14 : Problem session & review for final exam
Course Learning Outcomes At the end of the course, students should be able to:

1. use the methods of financial analysis and interpret the financial ratios;
2. prepare cash budget and proforma balance sheet and income statement;
3. manage the current assets;
4. use the methods of long-term investment analysis;
5. define the optimum mix of financing.
