Objective | This course has three main objectives. It aims first to introduce the world of journalism in its specificity, its diversity, its evolution, its place, its organizational and technical constraints, and terms of writing and coverage of events. It then gives the task of deciphering his constant interaction with society and power (political and economic) and its role in a democratic society, put into perspective with the question of ethics. It also proposes to analyze the reports of journalists to sources and public information as a product of social construction. |

Course Learning Outcomes |
At the end of this course the student will be able: 1. to know the different forms of practice of the profession (professional component) and take a lucid look on various sociological components in journalism. 2. to observe the changes taking place in the profession of journalism and to gauge the effects of digital and new technological developments in the profession. 3. to understand how the sources and the public should be considered sociological components of journalism. 4. to know the different approaches to the relations of journalists with society and to question, analyze and judge the relationship of journalism with the model of democratic society. |
