Objective | - This course aims to introduce Ancient Roman civilisation, which is one of the main sources of Europe's common cultural heritage, in various aspects such as social structure, language, politics, religion, daily life, urban culture and literature. |
Content | - Although certain events and dates that constitute a turning point in Roman history are commemorated, the course does not follow a chronological historical narrative, but the topics specified in the lesson plan are dealt with around the basic concepts by emphasising their natural relations with each other. |
Course Learning Outcomes | Upon successful completion of the course, the students will have acquired a general knowledge of the ancient Roman heritage of Europe, observed the relationship of French and other Romance languages with Latin through concrete examples, and gained a broad perspective on the development of French culture and literature. |
