Objective This course analyses the relation between the rise of republic and the modernisation of Ottoman Empire in the 19th Century.

Course Learning Outcomes In this course, the students could

- analyse the transformation of the Ottoman Empire in the period of modernisation
- Question the paradigm of modernisation
Teaching and Learning Methods The course is given with various sources including visual material.
The students are expected to analyse a problematic about Turkey’s history in the first half of 20th century.
