Objective | This course aims at preparing students for the next semesters’ courses, including Turkey's International Politics and Foreign Policy, and enabling them to understand, analyze and discuss current international politics. , the world we live in) through regional studies. |
Content | This course, an elaborate version of the course IR 111 International Policy News I, is devoted to the study of international political news through a regional study. As a result, it focuses on the major geopolitical regions of the world and thus commits itself to providing "the keys to a reading of a complex world". Unlike the first semester, the price of RI 112 will focus mainly on a geopolitical reading of the world. |
Course Learning Outcomes |
At the end of this course, students: - Acquire a cartographic knowledge of the world; - Design "an atlas of world events"; - Acquire the skill of understanding and giving meaning to the world with all its dynamics; - Have an analytical and conceptual basis for upcoming semester courses, as well as regional studies. |
Teaching and Learning Methods | The main method consists of analyzing and discussing the actuality of the international politics by means of a rich audio-visual material. Following the teacher's account of concepts and history, news will be discussed using documents, documentaries, videos, etc. From the fifth week (March 11, 2019) students will prepare for a study on relations between Turkey and the regions concerned. Each student will do research on the literature of these relationships, choose an article or book and prepare a reading sheet on the article or book that she / he has chosen |
