| Objective | This course aims to examine the most important works of the theorists who form the basis of the conceptual framework of international political economy, or global political economy as it is commonly used today, from a methodological and contextual perspective. Thus, the students will acquire or strengthen the theoretical background and use it in analysing current economic issues. |
| Content |
Publications classified according to theories are analysed by determining the method followed, the assumptions put forward, and the conclusions reached. These studies are prepared as homework in the form of reading notes to be delivered at the end of the semester. Students conduct the theoretical analysis of a current economic issue within the framework of their chosen research topic. This study is prepared as an article that meets scientific criteria. It is presented orally at the end of the semester, and the written version is delivered as a term paper. |
| Course Learning Outcomes |
The student who completes this course; 1- Becomes competent in the conceptual framework of international political economy. 2- Can analyse the relationship between the development of theories and the international/global economic context of relevant periods. 3- Improves his/her knowledge about international/global economic phenomena and gains competence in the research topic he/she will determine. |
| Teaching and Learning Methods |
The course is based primarily on analytical readings of primary texts and interactive discussions. Then, students gain experience in the literature review, problem-posing and scientific article writing around a current economic problem through their individual research. |
