Objective | The objective of this course is very specifically to assimilate the history of social anthropology. In that purpose, joined with a theoretical lesson, the student should discuss the main theories of the anthropological discipline through the reading of articles (evolutionism, diffusionism, structuralism, functionalism, dynamic anthropology). Then, the student will apply the theoretical and methodological approaches to various domains of interest for anthropology (family, economics, politics and religion). |
Content | This course constitutes a general introduction to anthropology. We will first define the object and methodology of anthropology. Then, we will present the different current of thoughts of classical anthropology. Thirdly, we will see the grand domains treated by the work of anthropologists. At last, we will analyze some of the contemporary anthropology productions. |
