Objective | This seminar, which aims to instil the skill of writing a Master's thesis following academic rules in the field of International Relations, covers basic stages such as source identification and research, conceptualization, and creating a writing plan. The focus is on qualitative research methods. |
Content | Texts explaining the development and transformation stages of the methodology in international relations are read and discussed interactively. Conceptual/theoretical approaches and explanations such as topic selection, research question determination, literature review, problematic creation, content or discourse analysis models, and plan types are examined. Case studies are discussed to facilitate a concrete understanding of the analysis methods. |
Course Learning Outcomes |
The student who successfully completes this course; 1- Learns which discussions are taking place in the world within the framework of the methodological problems of the discipline of international relations. 2- Acquires knowledge about qualitative international relations methods. 3- Is prepared for practical studies such as determining research questions, literature review, hypothesis formation, and writing scientific articles and master's thesis. |
Teaching and Learning Methods | First, specific studies on the history of the discipline of international relations, different approaches in the world, and different research and analysis methods are read and discussed. Then, small practical studies are carried out on applying these methods. |
