Objective | This course aims to introduce students of International Relations into the growing research area of international migration. With this aim, the course will first present contemporary trends in international migration and refugee movements. The course will then provide a review of theoretical approaches to human mobility and the root causes of migration and refugee movements. As part of the course, we will also study international refugee law and the emerging global governance of migration and refugees, borders, border control and securitization of migration, Turkish migration policies and migration and asylum policies in the European Union. |

1. To be able to assess global trends in the field of international migration 2. To be able to compare different theoretical approaches used to explain the migration process. 3. To be able to evaluate labor migration to Europe that emerged after 1945 4. To be able to evaluate the international refugee protection regime, the right to asylum, and responsibilities for protection 5. To be able to analyze the migration and asylum policies of the European Union 6. To be able to assess Turkey's migration and asylum policies. |
