Week 1 : Introduction to “corporate finance” and the concept of “value” Week 2 : Time value of money / Valuation of stocks and bonds Week 3 : Investment decisions and capital budgeting Week 4 : Problem session / Case studies Week 5 : Asset pricing models (CAPM & APT) Week 6 : Portfolio theory Week 7 : Problem session & review for partial exam Week 8 : Partial exam Week 9 : Corporate financing and market efficiency Week 10 : Capital structure theories (trade-off theory, pecking order theory, …) Week 11 : Cost of capital Week 12 : Dividend policy Week 13 : Introduction to “behavioral finance” Week 14 : Problems, cases and review for final exam |
Course Learning Outcomes |
At the end of the course, students should: 1. understand major theories of finance; 2. use the methods for analyzing investment projects; 3. determine the cost of capital; 4. define the optimum mix of financing; 5. understand major determinants of dividend policy. |
