Objective | Define the objectives and the principles of first aid, understand the role and responsibility of a first aider and check Signs of life. |
Content | The major goals and the underlying principles of first aid, vital sign, first aid in drowning,first aid in cardiac arrest, infection control, first aid in bleeding, first aid in injuries and wound, first aid in bone, joint and muscle injuries, first aid in burns, first aid in poisoning, first aid in coma, first aid in shock,first aid in hypothermia, first aid in fever and hyperthermia |
Course Learning Outcomes |
1) Define the objectives and the principles of first aid. 2) Understand the role and responsibility of a first aider. 3) Check Signs of life. 4) Describe and demonstrate first aid care for a victim with an obstructed airway. 5) Describe the purpose of and demonstrate and CPR for an adult. 6) Describe how to minimise the risk of infection to self and others. 7) List the most appropriate method of emergency care in some life-threatening situations – acute bleeding, wounded, bone fractures, burns, poisoning, shock, hypothermia, and hyperthermia. |
