This course aims to study music and sound worlds in a cultural context. In the spirit of interdisciplinarity, the course will focus on interactions amongst anthropology, ethnomusicology, musicology, sociology, cultural studies, and psychology. Throughout the course, possibilities of the anthropology of music and sound will be explored through a set of questions like: • How is sound related to social identities and people’s senses of time and place? • What is the relation between music and social structures? |
