Objective The main purpose of the course is to help the phenomenons of the meta culture and the society of the spectacle being evaluated in light of a systemic media studies approach. In this sense, by applying multi-disciplinary approachs, such as cultural studies and urban studies, this course also aims to examine modern experience through the concept of media space.
Content - Historical development of cities and the concept of 'modern city'.
- Concept of 'Society of Spectacle'.
- Premodern spectacle and city space.
- Modern spectacle and city space.
Course Learning Outcomes At the end of this course, the student shall;
- have a historical perspective on development of the cities.
- have a critical persoerctive on the use of city spaces as place of spectacle.
- have a theoretical perspective on the relationship between space and power.
- analyse the designing of the city spaces through the concept of 'media space'.
