Objective | The aim of the course is to emphasize the role of the local administrations in the integration process of the European Union. |
Content | This course focuses on the role of local and regional authorities in the integration process of the European Union. In this context, the decentralization reforms realized in Türkiye as a candidate to EU accession and on the concept of "Europeanization" will be discussed. The regional policies that constitute the building blocks of the integration process will be evaluated in comparative perspective. |
Course Learning Outcomes |
LO1. At the end of this course, students will be familiar with the process of the EU integration. LO2. They will recognize the main policies and tools in which the role of local and regional authorities is decisive. LO3. They will evaluate the decentralization and local government reforms carried out in Türkiye, in EU framework. LO4. They will be familiar with different models of decentralization in EU countries. |
Teaching and Learning Methods | The course is composed of seminars given by the professor of the course, the critical analysis of readings, discussions and presentations in class. |
