Objective To provide students with a detailed overview of the various fields of language sciences, beyond general linguistics, emphasizing the diversity of theories and methodologies.
To increase the knowledge of fields within applied linguistics by highlighting their diversity.
To discuss the growing role of interdisciplinarity in the social sciences in recent years, and thus within the language sciences.
To enable students to acquire a richer theoretical and methodological understanding of linguistics.
Content Theoretical and practical course content is designed to provide a detailed explanation of various fields within the language sciences, such as psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, language acquisition, generative linguistics, sociolinguistics, and typology; to highlight their practical implications; and to reinforce students’ knowledge through oral presentations and other assignments.
Course Learning Outcomes By drawing on an interdisciplinary approach, the aim is to highlight the complementary nature of the fields mentioned above and to understand how research in this area enables us to describe and analyze the concepts of language.
Teaching and Learning Methods Lecture notes, slides, articles, books, oral presentations, and hands-on survey research.
