Objective The subject of this course is law as the first social element, its logic, its branches, the methods of interpretation and its ethical essence, in short in the general term, human rights. At the same time this course tries to find answers to questions such as what law is, how it can be differentiated from other social rules and essential notions.

Course Learning Outcomes The student:
1. Understands the role of law in society.
2. Understands the courses in the faculty of law better due to preliminary preparation.
3. Discusses the problems related to the general principles of law.
4. Acquires the ability to think like a lawyer.
5. Is able to convey his/her thoughts on issues related to law and his/her suggestions for solutions to problems in written and oral form.
6. Defends and protects the character of the Republic of Turkey as a democratic, secular and social state of law based on the fundamental principles set out at the beginning of the Constitution, respectful to human rights, loyal to Atatürk's nationalism, within the peace of society, national solidarity and sense of justice.
7. Has the honesty, justice and ethics required by being a lawyer.
8. Has the infrastructure to try to ensure that concrete disputes are resolved fairly, to follow legal regulations and to take part in the judicial process within this framework.
9. Has internalised the universal principles of law; has the competence to perceive and solve legal problems in terms of the law that is and should be.
