Objective The aim of this course is to explore the cultural and meditative
foundations of contemporary journalism by discussing; the birth of
Turkish press from the Ottoman Empire to the multi-party system,
law regulations, professional climate, key figures in journalism and
central journals.

Course Learning Outcomes After the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- Define the key names, the progress, and the major occurrences in
the history of Turkish press,
- Explain the causes of events in the history of press; associate these
explanations with the contemporary journalism,
- Define the historical phenomena in historical context,
- Correlate History of Turkish Press with the history of world press
- Evaluate the impact of Turkish Press on Turkish society
regarding historical process.
