Objective This course is designed to provide students fundamentals of occupational safety and health. It aims to develop an understanding of the current state of occupational safety and health in Turkey and in the world, to present occupational safety and health standards and laws, and to introduce students to risk evaluation using different risk assessment techniques.
Content Basic concepts of occupational safety and health, Work accidents and professional diseases, Theories of accident causation, Quality management and occupational safety and health, Continuous process improvement, OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health & Safety Assesment Series), Occupational safety and health law, Risk management, Risk assessment techniques
Course Learning Outcomes This course enables students to
1: Define occupational safety and health,
2: Classify the cost of work accidents,
3: Explain the theories of accident causation,
4: Define the requirements of occupational safety and health standards,
5: Employ quality improvement techniques in occupational safety processes,
6: Develop risk maps for small production companies,
7: Employ risk assessment techniques.
