Objective The course aims to clarify the history of the European idea and milestones in the European integration from 1945 to the present day. It explains the reasons as to why EU countries need this integration. It successively analyzes the institutional, legal and financial framework and explains the main operating mechanisms of the European Union.
Content 1.course : General introduction to the idea of European integration

2.course : 1950 - 1960 - The establishment of the Communities

3.course : 1960 - 1980 - The Community and major global crises

4.course : 1980 - 2000 - the European Single Act and the transition to the European Union

5.course : The 2000s - the issues and challenges of enlargement, the Treaty of Nice and the constitutional project

6.course : Mechanisms and decision-making institutions (the European Council, the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Council of Ministers)

7.course : The organization and competences of the consultation institutions (the Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions) and audit institutions (the Court of Justice and the Court of Auditors)

8.course : Mid-term Exam

9.course : The organization and competences of Financial Institutions (the European Investment Bank and the European Central Bank)
