Introduction

Programme Profile

Master of Business Administration aims to develop the potential of tomorrow’s managers by a multidimensional perspective. This program has the objective to deliver a broad range of knowledge and skill to the students that will let them find important job positions or promote to better positions and get key responsibilities in the enterprise. The program, based on active participation, is intended for students willing to become more performing and proactive in the business world.

The students who have successfully completed this programme are entitled to receive Master of Business Administration degree

Access Requirements

To apply for the Master's degree in Business Administration, candidates: 1- should have or be a candidate for obtaining a bachelor's degree (equivalence of international diplomas must be approved by the Board of Education higher YOK), 2 - should have a minimum GPA of 2.40 to 4.00 on the undergraduate level, 3 - should prove their proficiency in English or French. Candidates may take and must obtain at least 70 points in the Intercollegiate foreign language examination (UDS) or in the foreign language exam for public sector staff (KPDS). Candidates who have had the equivalent of 70 points to internationally recognized as the TOEFL, IELTS, DELF or DALF examinations will also be considered to have met the foreign language requirement. To be eligible for this program, applicants must pass a scientific review and an interview with faculty in the department of management and weighted scores from these examinations must be equal to average at least 65 points and must remain in the quota in the ranking of the highest among all candidates grades.


Programme Requirements and Regulations

Master of Business Administration degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all the compulsory courses in the curriculum and the required number of elective courses in their chosen area of interest on the condition that they have obtained a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 out of 4.00. The minimum number of ECTS credits required for graduation is 90.


Recognition of Prior Learning

Successful students who have completed at least one semester in a master program of Galatasaray University or of another higher education institution can be accepted to our program through internal or external transfer within the determined quota framework. Transfer application come to a decision by the proposal of the Management Department and the approval of Executive Board of Institute of Social Sciences. Candidates applying for a transfer should fulfill all the prerequisites for a admission to a Graduate School program and other requirements such as the level of foreign language proficiency set forth.


Programme Outcomes

1 The student will be able to use the knowledge and skills needed for upper echelons of management.
2 The student will be able to identify the behaviors to minimize the risks by taking into account internal and external conditions that effect the organization.
3 The student should have the general knowledge about labor law, sociology, psychology, organizational sociology, logistics and quantitative methods that can be needed out of basic management functions.
4 The student should have a command of information and communication technologies that are needed for professional business life.
5 The student should keep the competitive power of business at higher levels in the increasing globalization and competition conditions with following visionary applications.
6 The student will be able to identify the changes that are in the internal and external environment of business and the problems which are caused by these changes in time. Also, the student should improve solutions for these problems and apply them.
7 The student will be able to generate the solutions for managerial problems with the help of management games and simulation techniques.
8 The student should make presentations and discuss managerial problems at least two foreign languages.
9 The student will be able to tend towards practices of case study and sample event assessment and contribute the projects in which he/she serves.
10 The student should get the responsibility in teamwork and contribute to team work.
11 The student should get the habit of updating his technical skills to adjust the changing and improving scientific and technologic environment.
12 The student should make a principle of behaving ethical in business life and guarding the interests of his colleagues and business stakeholders.


Occupation Profiles of Graduates

Our Master of Business Administration program is a specialized program for current and future executives. Students who graduate from this program, will expand their theoretical and practical knowledge as well as their expertise in various functional areas of business such as strategic management, finance, accounting, sales and marketing, purchasing and logistics, manufacturing and research and development, human resource management and organization and will be trained and developed as natural candidates for managerial positions in both the public and private sectors.

Grading Scheme and Grade Distribution Guidance

 
 
The grade of a student in any course is calculated by the Relative Evaluation System. The students’ success in studies during the semester is calculated by evaluating the final exam grades together with the results of midterm exam(s) and/or other projects, home works, etc while considering the general success level in class. The weight of final exam grade and midterm exam(s) and/or works grades on the final evaluation should be notified in writing by the instructor of the course to the Institute at the beginning of each semester (we should note that the weight of final exam on the final grade shouldn’t be less than 40% and more than 60%). Students will receive one of the following letter grades for each course:

A student should received at least a letter grade of CC in any course to be considered successful. Following notations can also be used to evaluate exams, projects, home works, seminar courses etc.
